چکیده
CASE REPORT A 67-year-old white woman presented to the dermatology clinic for further assessment of a pigmented vulvar lesion near the urethral meatus that was discovered incidentally 4 months prior. The patient had been examined by 3 gynecologists since discovery of this lesion, which consisted of mostly black pigmentationwith some various shades of grey (Fig 1). A punch biopsy section taken by the second gynecologist showed findings of spongiosis within the epithelium with moderate to numerous superficial melanophages (Fig 2). The differential diagnosis included postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, fixed drug eruption, and irritant contact dermatitis, but a regressed mucosal melanoma was also considered. The third gynecologist started the patient on local estrogen therapy for severe vulvovaginal atrophy and pain, which resulted in a fading of the lesion from a black to grey color along with resolution of the atrophic tissues. The patient did not want to proceed with an additional biopsy at that time, but when the lesion remained unchanged after

Traumatic iridial extrusion mimicking a conjunctival melanocytic neoplasm
Conjunctival melanoma is a rare malignant tumour of the eye. Its diagnosis represents a challenge for general pathologists due to low exposure to ocular biopsies and a broad differential diagnosis. In addition, conjunctival samples are often small and are associated with a high frequency of artefacts due to their processing. Here, we present the first case to date of a traumatic iridial extrusi...
متن کاملThe recurrent nevus phenomenon*
Recurrent melanocytic nevus is a proliferation of melanocytes arising from a melanocytic nevus removed partially. Asymmetry and irregular pigmentation may lead to misdiagnosis of melanoma. We report a patient presented with a lesion on the lower abdomen, which was removed by shave excision. Anatomopathological examination revealed an intradermal melanocytic nevus. Two months later, a new irregu...

A 74-year-old man with an occult carcinoma of the colon developed pigmentation of the mouth and penis typical of the Peutz-Jeghers syndrome as the first manifestation of bilateral diffuse uveal melanocytic proliferation. The simultaneous appearance of extraocular pigmented lesion and those in the uveal tract of both eyes of this patient provides further evidence that bilateral diffuse uveal mel...
متن کاملSeborrheic keratoses: a distinctive diagnoses of pigmented vulvar lesions: a case report
Seborrheic keratoses, a benign growth lesion, is a very common cutaneous lesion encountered in white races in the fourth and fifth decade. The occurrence of this lesion on the vulva is rare, as an isolated lesion or in association with lesions elsewhere. A 34-year-old woman reported with a hyperpigmented palpable lesion, approximately 5-10 mm in diameter, was found on the patient's left labium ...
متن کاملA case of long-lasting misdiagnosed lymphangioma circumscriptum masquerading as dermatitis
Lymphangioma circumscriptum is a rare benign lymphatic malformation, clinically characterized by clusters of translucent vesicles. Uncommon manifestations such as verruciform or zosteriform have also been reported in the literature, yet eczematous-like presentation is extremely rare. The present study describes the case of a young woman with a 16-year history of an exudative eczematous-like pla...
